Template for plotting pixels using GTK+

I took a bit of a break from this to handle some work stuff, but I’m reading to get back to it. The last big graphics win (back in May) I had was figuring out how to put pixels into a window. I want to keep exploring this, so I made a small template program that can serve as a base for expanded study:

It’s pretty straightforward, but it’s a great jumping off point for other projects. Running it as is produces this:

I’ve been working one understanding the math for plotting the Mandelbrot set, and I think I’d like to take a shot at an implementation of Conway’s game of life.
